Today we highlight a client who had a desire to improve his balance and strength to prevent future falls and maintain his independence.
He understands the importance of being proactive in his health.

Charles’s story.
Charles started to get that sinking feeling that if he didn’t do something about his progressive weakness and balance issues he was going to end up on the floor with possibly a life threatening injury.
This is when Charles turned to MOSS Rehabilitation Center to help him remain active and independent.
Whe Charles first came to therapy he had decreased hip and knee strength along with poor to fair balance depending on the test situation. He noted severe limitations in his ability to walk long distances, climb stairs and perform tasks around his home.
Charles started therapy at Phase I of The MAGICAL 5 Phases of Healing as he was also suffering with some chronic lower back pain. Our job was to help him reduce his pain as well as improve his strength and balance so he could maintain maximum independence.
Over the course of 2 months Charles worked very hard both in the clinic and at home. He demonstrated pigheaded discipline and determination to reach his goals of improving his strength, balance and to remain independent. He worked closely with his therapist who guided and modified his program as he got stronger and more confident.
When Charles finished his therapy in Phase IV (maintenance and injury prevention) he demonstrated significant improvements in his strength, balance, ability to walk long distances, climb stairs and perform activities around his house.
For Charles the last two months was time well invested.
“My name is Charles Tanner , I am eighty years old. I have come to build myself up where I get to do more. This has improved my walking and other things I could not do very well before. Thank you to Craig and the ladies here, I couldn’t have done it without you.”
