I want to introduce you to Mike.
Mike was new to MOSS Rehabilitation Center after his knee replacement surgery.
We worked to help him get back to his goals of return to construction work, walking without a limp and improving his mobility and strength.
When he graduated he had accomplished his goals, had his questions answered and complimented the team that helped guide him through the transformation of what he could do pre and post therapy.

Mike came to MOSS Rehabilitation Center with complaints of pain and stiffness after a knee replacement surgery. This was his first time to MOSS and he was not sure what to expect.
Mike had dull, achy pain around the front and back of the knee. He also had some strength loss in the knee and hip.
In addition he had a noticeable limp due to the loss of strength and mobility. If not corrected, this had the potential of causing further issues down the line such as back or hip pain.
Mike had a goal of returning to construction work which requires greater mobility and strength compared to what he currently had. This type of work also creates greater demands on the new knee vs. normal daily activities such as walking and sitting.
Mike needed to be confident in his knee strength and mobility as he knew he would have to walk on uneven surfaces, climb ladders and steps as well as be on his feet for the majority of the day.
When he came in he was improving, but knew he needed that extra push from MOSS to accomplish his goals of returning to work with full strength and mobility.
Mike started in the first phase of The MAGICAL 5 Phases of healing, which was to reduce the pain and inflammation followed by phase II – restore strength and mobility so he could perform daily activities without issues – Phase III.
The hard work started in Phases IV and V where we worked to teach him what he could work on at home but also help him build greater strength and mobility so he would not only survive returning to work but thrive.
As mentioned above, Mike was going to be placing greater demands on his knee than most of our patients who receive a new knee. Mike was up for the challenge and did wonderfully.
When Mike finished therapy he had full knee mobility and strength. This allowed him the ability to return to work without limitations. Also by improving the way he walked we reduced the chance of developing hip or lower back issues in the future.
Congratulations to Mike, he truly is the King Of The Knee!!!
“I am very happy with what I can do now compared to what I could do before coming to MOSS Rehabilitation Center. The staff and everyone here are some of the best I have ever seen. They answered any and all questions I might have had. This is the first time I have come to MOSS and I would come here again if I ever had a problem. Great place and wonderful people.” – Mike King
Mike worked hard during therapy and at home. He knew what his goals were and had a desire to accomplish them.
He also understood that the short term pain and discomfort was necessary if he wanted to regain his mobility, strength and prevent lower back and hip issues by eliminating his limp when he walked.
